They say that good things come to those who wait. Hopefully, that means something really good is coming, because I’ve been working on transitioning this newsletter into a newsletter-podcast hybrid since December.
This may be because I think every idea I have will take exactly 17 minutes to complete. It’s like the time estimator in my brain is permanently stuck at 17 minutes. “I have a great idea for a massive community mural!” “Oh, wow, how long would that take?” “Um, let me do some complex calculations… 17 minutes?”
It might also be because there has been a lot to learn and do lately, in writing and production, in our gospel seed sowing mission, and in our family.
Either way, while plenty of things have been simmering on the back burner, I haven’t launched anything into the world for a while.
But it’s been such a blessing over the past few months to dive deep into a handful of very special of New Testament stories to research, imagine, and create. There are new songs, spoken word poems, and essays I’m excited to share with you. I was even blessed to get to collaborate on a song with Neville Peter, a fellow singer-songwriter.
But we’ll all have to wait a few more months, so that I can focus every single one of my “17 minutes” on finishing the book I’m writing. :)
In the meantime, I’d like to do something with this space! Something meaningful that will be quick and inspiring, for both you and me.
Three basic ideas:
I could share about the fairly exciting and suspenseful process of writing this book.
I could share a roundup of faith- inspiring creativity from others.
I could share prompts for you to create your own faith-growing creative interactions.
What kind of short, interesting weekly update would be meaningful to you? Let me know in this fancy anonymous poll.
Tada:
Also, if you’ve forgotten who I am… I’m Abigail Follows, a gospel seed sower and author. This newsletter is for people who want to follow Jesus wherever He leads, and are into cultivating a Philippians 4:8 thought life. My goal is to magnify the Lord—to use writing and music to remind myself and you of His greatness and His goodness.
Also, here’s an article I wrote for A Life Overseas that is about more than just fireflies.
Love,
Abby
I was thinking of you the other day, wondering where this blog had disappeared to! Love your creativity, can't wait to read your next book.
Thanks for the survey. Sounds interesting. Hopefully there will be an option on iTunes. I don’t think I can handle another app or site .to go to! Haha. Interesting about the 17 minutes. I have a preset 17 minute reminder on my calendar for meetings appointments etc.
