Dear Friends,
Did you know that when a caterpillar wraps itself in a cocoon, it doesn’t just grow wings?
It dissolves into DNA-rich goop… and then reorganizes into something entirely new.
Floating in that goop are specialized cells called imaginal discs—already containing the blueprint for wings, legs, and eyes.
It’s miraculous.
It’s beautiful.
It’s a little gross.
And it’s full of powerful symbols for what God does in people’s lives.
God brought Israel’s big, dysfunctional family into Egypt—and turned them into a nation. He led them through the wilderness—and taught them how to trust. He sent Jesus to the grave—and brought Him out, victorious over sin and death.
What an artist.
To be honest, God has had me in a cocoon of my own. Over the past year, He’s been doing His own dissolving-and-rebuilding work in my life.
One of the biggest things to come out of this season is that I’ve finished my second book—and it’s now being prepared for publication!
This book has been a labor of love and prayer over the course of three years… and it wouldn’t have been possible to write without the support of others.
If you’d like to learn more about the book or help bring it into the world, here’s the GoFundMe link. Every little bit helps—and I’m truly grateful.
God’s been at work in me too. I’m excited to share more as I revive this publication—with short, creative reflections on faith every other week.
But for now, I’d love to hear from you:
What’s one thing God has done that amazes you?
In your life, in nature, in history—wherever you’ve seen His hand—hit reply or post in the comments. I’d love to know.
Blessings,
Abby

Oh, and Im finding the light at dawn and dusk amazing. The colours in the sky, leaves and how it falls on the ground.
I've heard the butterfly metaphor before but NEVER quite like that. You really took us into the gross goop.
